While area residents were bracing themselves for potentially destructive weather on Tuesday, June 26, fire fighters from an area county were called out to several fires due to severe storms.
According to a post on its Facebook page, at 2:18 p.m., personnel from Johnson County Fire Protection District’s Stations 1 and 10 were dispatched to a residential structure fire just south of Warrensburg. The reporting party witnessed a lightning strike and observed flames on the exterior of the residence.
Crews arrived and found fire involvement on the exterior of the residence, including the natural gas meter. The fire was extinguished with minimal damage to the interior of the structure.
During the severe storm, Johnson County Fire Protection District fire fighters responded to five incidents related to the storm.
