Area firefighters responded to a blaze in a field.

On Wednesday, September 1, firemen with the Cooper County Fire Protection District were dispatched to Highway 98 for the report of a tractor on fire.

Firefighters, an engine and a tanker arrived on the scene and were able to extinguish the fire, which included a grassy area around the tractor that had ignited as a result of the initial tractor fire.

Firefighters knocked down the fire quickly and credit the landowner for his quick response in calling 9-1-1 as soon as he noticed smoke and recognized a fire erupting.
