The Marshall Police Department conducted an investigation with the Saline County Children’s Division after receiving a report concerning a child with apparent injuries. An investigator from the Saline County Children’s Division interviewed the alleged victim’s mother, who revealed that Andre Stewart had used a belt to strike the child, resulting in visible bruising on the child’s arm, mid-back, and left ear. The child confirmed the abuse. The mother mentioned discovering the injuries on the child the day after leaving him in Stewart’s care.

A forensic interview was conducted with the child at the Child Advocacy Center in Sedalia on February 28, where the child provided additional details about the abuse.

Andre Stewart was charged with a felony for child abuse.
