Charlie Tichenor, 84, of Marshall, MO, died Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Legendary Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshall.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2024, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall.  Burial will follow in Smith Chapel Cemetery south of Marshall.  Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to Saline Animal League and an online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born September 29, 1939, in Marshall, he was the son of the late John Lewis Tichenor and Nellie Wenzel Tichenor Opfer.  Charlie lived in Saline County most of his life and was a graduate of Marshall High School.  His career was spent as an over the road truck driver, owning his own trucking company, and then driving for Banquet Foods and retiring from Swift Carriers in 2009.  In addition to driving, Charlie always enjoyed putting in time as a farmer, especially a fondness for working with cattle.  During the 60’s he played piano in a local band and always enjoyed old country music.

Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Yokeley (Donnie) of Marshall, Teresa’s mother, Sandy Johnson of Santa Fe, TX; one son, Justin Tichenor (Meghan) of rural Nelson, Justin’s mother, Ann Meekins of Surprise, AZ; three grandsons: Connor, Pierson and Lain Tichenor; a great-grandson, Avry Wilson and his mother, Rachel Landreth; one brother, Richard Tichenor (Nancy) of Chesterfield; two nieces, Jill Overton and Courtney Deters (Joe) of Columbia; as well as other extended family.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by one son, Johnny “J.T.” Tichenor; one grandson, Brett Wilson II; and his beloved German Shepherd, Buck.
