A recycling and waste collection event is scheduled in Lafayette County on Saturday, May 18.

Items will only be accepted from Lafayette County residents, and not commercial businesses. The items that will be accepted include furniture, clothes, four tires per home at $2 per tire (and $5 for additional tires), electronic waste, bulk debris, and two appliances per home. Household hazardous waste, like aerosols, batteries, used oil, gasoline, antifreeze, pesticides, herbicides, garden chemicals, household cleaners, and fluorescent bulbs will also be accepted.

Explosives, ammunition, latex paint, asbestos, smoke alarms. radioactive waste, unlabeled items, window units and refrigerators, and medical waste will not be accepted.

The items will be collected from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 406 West Marshall Street in Mayview. Anyone with questions or concerns should call 660-619-3652.
