Pedro Pagés made his two-run home run in the second count, as the St Louis Cardinals defeated the Chicago Cubs 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Wrigley Field.

Pagés connected on an 0-2 pitch from Jameson Taillon for his second home run of the season. The Cubs were only able to score one run in the seventh. Taillon struck out three Redbirds but allowed seven hits and two walks in six innings to take the loss for Chicago. Miles Mikolas went slightly longer in the winning effort, facing two batters in the seventh before completing his line with one earned run on four hits and five strikeouts. Ryan Helsley recorded his 24th save of the year.

The Cardinals are back at .500, 6.5 games behind Milwaukee in the NL Central. They travel to Miami to start a three-game series against the Marlins, with first pitch at 5:40.
