Judith J. “Judy” Menefee, 86, of Kansas City, formerly of Sedalia, died Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at McCrite Plaza at Briarcliff.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 24, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Chapel with Fr. Brad Berhorst officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Children’s Therapy Center in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.

Born January 6, 1938 in Sedalia, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret Jones Scruton. On August 31, 1957 in Sedalia, she married James D. “Jim” Menefee, and he survives of the home.

Also surviving are two daughters, Pam Crowley of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Susan Baumgartner and her husband Nick of Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Megan Reeder (Seth), Laura Harlan (Alan), Janine Diak (Robert), and Tara Baumgartner; and four great-grandchildren, Alison Harlan, Ava Reeder, James Diak, and Charlotte Diak. She was preceded in death by five sisters.

Mrs. Menefee was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Chapel. She was active in volunteer work, serving as a Girl Scout leader, delivering Meals on Wheels, P.T.A., the Bothwell Hospital Auxiliary, and helping at the Sedalia Senior Center. She and her husband lived in Sedalia for many years, before moving to Kansas City seven years ago.
