Two people were flown to area hospitals following a head-on collision in Mt Leonard on Thursday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the wreck just before 6 p.m. on Route 127 near the railroad crossing. According to deputies, a car driven by 34-year-old Jacob Evans of Bates City crossed the center line as he was driving north, colliding with an SUV driven by 64-year-old Julia Malter of Malta Bend. Both drivers suffered moderate injuries. Evans was flown to a Kansas City area hospital, while Malter was flown to Columbia for treatment.
