Four home runs by the St Louis Cardinals, including two from Alec Burleson, powered the Cardinals to a 9-4 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday afternoon at Busch Stadium.

The Giants jumped to a 3-0 lead before the Cardinals could bat, but Paul Goldschmidt cut into that lead in the bottom of the first with a two-run home run. The Giants added a run in the third, but Alec Burleson’s three-run shot over right center field in the fourth put the Cardinals up for good. Burleson landed his second home run in the sixth, while Brendan Donovan completed the scoring in the seventh.

Despite giving up three runs in the opening frame, Miles Mikolas stuck around for six innings of work, allowing six hits and two walks while striking out three to get his sixth win of the season.

The Cardinals improve to 38-37, five games behind Milwaukee in the NL Central but tied with San Diego for the second wild card spot. The Cardinals look to sweep the Giants on Sunday afternoon, with first pitch at 1:15.
