Two goals from captain Lo’eau Labonta in ten minutes led the Kansas City Current to a 4-1 win over the Portland Thorns on Sunday afternoon at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon.

Labonta notched her first goal in the 30th minute, with Stine Ballisager adding a goal eight minutes later. Labonta’s second goal in the 40th minute would make the score 3-0 at the half. Temwa Chawinga added her ninth goal of the season in the 47th minute, while Sophia Smith scored Portland’s only goal later in the half to stay atop the NWSL individual goal standings with ten. The Current remain undefeated on the year and are back atop the NWSL standings with 32 points, maintaining their better goal differential than Orlando. The Current return home to CPKC Stadium on Friday to face the Houston Dash.
