Five area residents were injured in a three-vehicle crash in Howard County on Tuesday, June 25.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred as a vehicle driven by Heaven-Lee Hundley slowed to make a left turn on Missouri 5. A vehicle driven by Jediah Shields struck the rear of Hundley’s vehicle, causing it to enter into the path of a third vehicle, driven by Mark Thomann. Hundley’s vehicle then overturned after being struck by Thomann.

Both Hundley and Shields suffered serious injuries in the crash. Thomann and two passengers in his vehicle also suffered injuries, ranging from moderate to serious. All the injured were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

The accident occurred at 10:18 a.m. on Missouri 5, south of County Road 345 in Howard County.
