Sales tax revenues for Saline County experienced a 23-percent jump year-over-year for the month of May.

The figures from the Missouri Department of Revenue were presented by Saline County Treasurer Jared Brewer during last week’s county commission meeting. According to the figures, Saline County received $134,839.07 in base sales tax revenue, along with $134,825.86 for the law enforcement sales taxes and $134,787.55 for the economic development sales tax. Revenue collected during May is remitted by the state to its counties after the first week of June. Compared to the previous month, revenue is also up 23 percent.

Saline County’s use tax collections in May totaled $82,778.97, up 48 percent from a year ago and two percent better than the previous month.
