The square surrounding the Saline County Courthouse will take on a slightly different look over the next two months as crews repair the roof to the courthouse.

Renaissance Roofing Company will soon make repairs to the courthouse roof following several instances of storm damage, including missing slate shingles and lightning rods. Presiding Commissioner Becky Plattner says 16 parking spots on the west side of the square will be roped off for use by crews.

Plattner adds that the bulk of the $263,980 price tag has been covered by insurance.

The roof repairs this summer will also include improvements to the courthouse dome and electric flag.
