The Kansas City Royals picked up their American League-leading 29th win at home Friday night, belting four home runs out of Kauffman Stadium to defeat the Cleveland Guardians 10-3.

It was Cleveland who hit the first home run of the evening, as José Ramírez sent his 22nd round-tripper of the year to right field in the top of the first. The Royals took the lead in the second with back-to-back blasts from Salvador Perez and Hunter Renfroe, then padded the lead with three RBI singles in the third and Kyle Isbel’s solo shot in the fourth. Vinnie Pasquantino also homered for the Royals, bringing in two runs in the eighth, while sacrifice flies and a wild pitch led to the remainder of Kansas City’s scoring. Cleveland added its remaining two runs on a groundout in the seventh and sacrifice fly in the eighth.

Alec Marsh pitched six innings to collect his sixth win of the season, allowing four hits and two walks while fanning five. The bullpen combined to strike out another five Guardians, as the Royals improved to 46-38 on the season. That’s now tied with Minnesota for second in the AL Central, seven games behind the Guardians. The Royals can claim a series win against Cleveland on Saturday afternoon, with first pitch at 3:10 p.m. Pregame begins at 2:30 on KMMO AM 1300.
