The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Cincinnati Reds 2-0 behind a quality start from Lance Lynn.

Lynn went six scoreless, giving up two hits and a walk. Lynn had six strikeouts on the day, and became the sixth player in franchise history to reach 1,000 strikeouts with the Cardinals.

The Cardinals scored the game’s only runs in the fifth and sixth off of RBI hits from Alec Burleson and Masyn Winn.

Ryan Helsley pitched a perfect ninth to earn his 30th consecutive save of the season.

The Cardinals improve to 43-40 on the season. St. Louis remains 6.5 games back of Milwaukee in the NL Central.

St. Louis will be back in action on Tuesday, July 2 to face the Pittsburgh Pirates for a three-game series.
