Seth Lugo pitched six strong innings of scoreless baseball, and helped the Kansas City Royals defeat the Cleveland Guardians 6-2 on Sunday, June 30.

Lugo went six shutout innings, allowing only four hits while striking out ten batters.

His offense gave him plenty of run support, scoring runs in the first and second, and then adding two each in the fifth and seventh. Bobby Witt Jr. and Vinnie Pasquantino had three hit days and drove in runs.

Salvador Perez blasted his 14th homer of the season and drove in three runs on the day.

The Guardians got on the board with a pair of runs in the eighth, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit.

The Royals take three of four in the series, and sit at seven games back in the AL Central.
