Elizabeth M. “Betty” Fortune, 89 of Sedalia, died, Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the E.W. Thompson Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11am, Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, St. Patrick Chapel, with Fr. Joe Corel as celebrant. The burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Rosary will be recited at 10:40am prior to the funeral mass. The family suggests memorials to St. Patrick Catholic Church, in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.

Betty was born December 13, 1934, in Madonnaville, Illinois, the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Welsch Ahne.

On November 26, 1953, in Madonnaville, Illinois, she married Paul S. Fortune. He preceded her in death September 14, 2018.

Survivors include her children Pam Fortune (Joe Hunt) of Sedalia, Chuck Fortune (Donna) of Columbia, Teresa Fortune of Sedalia, Mary Beth Reid (Bob) of Houstonia, and Paula Fortune (Wayne Gray) of Sedalia; along with 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and a great great-grandson; two sisters Frances Barth of Innsbrook, MO and Mary Ann Jasko of Avon Lake, OH.

Betty was preceded in death by her grandson Matthew Fortune and brother Joseph Ahne.

Betty farmed with her husband for many years in Pettis County, and was co-owner of Fortune Farm Services, a trucking operation. She was member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, St. Patrick Chapel for many years.
