St Louis City SC have dismissed the MLS franchise’s first-ever head coach.

The club announced Monday that they were parting ways with Bradley Carnell, who joined the club in 2022. During City’s first season in 2023, Saint Louis won their first five MLS games, en route to a record 17 wins for a first-year team and the top seed in the Western Conference. However, the squad was trounced in the MLS Playoffs by Sporting Kansas City. This season City have only won three games thus far and currently sit 12th in the Western Conference.

Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel said that the decision was not easy, “given Bradley’s many contributions to the club”, but added that St Louis believed that a change was in the best interest of improving performance and results.

Technical Director John Hackworth was named interim manager and will lead St Louis City’s next game Wednesday night against last-place San Jose at CITYPARK.
