Two area cities are receiving grants from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources to improve their water and wastewater systems.

DNR issued a grant late last week to Keytesville for $40,000 to conduct an evaluation of the city’s wastewater system. The evaluation will help the city identify improvements that are needed to continue reliable service to the area, meet permit requirements, and reduce stormwater infiltration into sewer collection pipes. The plan should be complete by November 2025.

DNR also announced Monday that Slater would receive a grant totaling $37,500 to evaluate its drinking water system. Slater’s evaluation will identify any needed improvements to continue providing reliable service to its customers and to meet drinking water quality standards.

Both grants are through DNR’s Financial Assistance Center, funded wholly or in part with funds received from the Environmental Protection Agency.
