The St. Louis Cardinals took down the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2 in a ten inning thriller on Thursday, July 4.

Both teams traded runs early, with the Cardinals getting on the board in the second thanks to an RBI double from Dylan Carlson. The Pirates got a run back in the fourth to tie it up.

Neither team would score again until the tenth inning, when the Cardinals got RBI hits from Pedro Pages and Alec Burleson. The Pirates got a run in the bottom of the tenth, but St. Louis held on for the win.

Andre Pallante went seven strong innings for St. Louis, giving up one run on four hits. John King picked up the win, pitching the final two innings of the game.

The Cardinals improve to 45-41 overall.
