The Kansas City Royals fell to the Tampa Bay Rays 10-8 on Thursday, July 4.

The Rays got to Royals starter Alec Marsh early, knocking him out of the game after three innings. Marsh gave up five runs on six hits and three walks.

The Royals bullpen didn’t fair much better. Carlos Hernandez gave up three runs, and Will Smith and Nick Anderson gave up a run each.

The offense kept the Royals in the game, with Bobby Witt Jr. recording three hits, including a homer and two RBI. Michael Massey also homered in the losing effort.

The Royals drop two out of three in the series, and fall to 48-41 on the season.
