Phyllis Jean Howerton-Fisher, 81, of Sedalia, MO, formerly of Lincoln and Marshall, died Monday, August 5, 2024, at her home.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.  An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born July 6, 1943, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late David Ballew and Betty Louise Bacon Drake.  Betty married Robert Franklin Drake when Phyllis was very young and she saw him as her father.  On August 28, 1976, she married David E. Howerton who preceded her in death on July 29, 2002.  On December 3, 2004, she married Chester Eugene “Gene” Fisher who preceded her in death on November 1, 2020.  Phyllis lived in Marshall most of her life where, in addition to being a homemaker, worked at the glove factory.  She and Gene lived in the rural Lincoln area for a few years and she then moved to Sedalia following his death.  She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #4286 in Lincoln.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Taylor Witcher of Marshall and Haley Achelpohl (Matthew) of Waukesha, WI; daughter-in-law, Sheri Witcher of St. Charles; four siblings: Brenda Persinger of Liberty, Steve Drake of Glasgow, Richard Drake of Marshall and Mary Mikle of Marshall; former husband, Marvin Witcher of Marshall; many nieces and nephews; and her cat, Tom.

In addition to her parents and dad, she was preceded in death by one son, Marvin Wesley “Wes” Witcher Jr.; and one sister, Karen Gale “Kate” Land.
