A driver escaped from their truck when it caught fire Sunday morning along Route 41 in Miami.
A spokesman for the Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed to KMMO News that the unidentified driver was able to exit their truck as it caught fire and had no reported injuries. A listener photo sent to KMMO News shows the truck stopped in the southbound lane of Route 41 near the Miami R-I School and engulfed in flames. The Saline County Sheriff’s Office says that crews were called to the accident around 10 a.m. Traffic was impacted as firefighters extinguished the flames and brought in a tow truck to remove the vehicle.
(Update at 3:35 p.m., Aug. 11, 2024) Route 41 has reopened through Miami after a truck caught fire in the southbound lane outside the Miami R-I School. Details about the accident including any injuries are still pending from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Law enforcement is advising motorists to avoid Route 41 at the Miami R-1 School, as first responders are dealing with a truck fire on the roadway.
A listener photo sent to KMMO News shows a truck in the southbound lane engulfed in flames. The Saline County Sheriff’s Office says that crews were called to the accident around 10 a.m., and that traffic in the area will be impacted until a tow truck can remove the truck from the scene.
