James E. Goss, 64, of Smithton, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024.

He was born November 28, 1959, in Sedalia, a son of James L. and Joyce (Smasal) Goss.

Jim was a well-respected machinist and mechanic and was excited to have recently retired. He could fix, fabricate, or machine anything and was a true mechanical genius. Jim enjoyed collecting Farmall tractors, working on pulling tractors, and running equipment on the farm. His other hobbies included traveling, attending tractor pulls with family and friends, and riding his UTV to the creek. He was an amazing person and will always be remembered as generous, caring, giving and loving. Jim was passionate about his family and his life positively impacted so many others with his generous heart. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all that knew him.

Survivors include his parents, James L. and Joyce Goss, of Sedalia; two children, James S. “Jimmy” Goss (Carmen) and Ashton Cisneros (David), all of Sedalia; his life partner, Debbie Petersen, of Sedalia; a brother, Kenneth Goss, of Florence SC, a sister, Linda Young (Allen), of Sedalia, a brother, Glen Goss (Julie), of Columbia, MO; stepsons, Stephen Belsha (Christina), of Jefferson City, Shaun Belsha (Mandy), Gabe Belsha (Misty), all of Sedalia; three grandchildren, Callie Goss, Caelyn Goss and Marie Cisneros; six step-grandchildren, Lauren Belsha, Forrest Belsha, Emilie Huntsman, Raegan Belsha, Keaton Belsha, and Aurora Cisneros; and his blended family Ronnie Petersen, Katlin Petersen, both of Concord, NC, Amy Petersen, of Blue Springs, MO, and Joelee, Monroe and Nixon.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Arden Goss.

A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held the evening of October 5th at the residence of Jimmy and Carmen Goss.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Goodwill Chapel Church in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
