A Missouri Valley College men’s soccer student-athlete has earned a second-straight weekly award from the Heart of America Athletic Conference for his play in two conference games last week.

Forward Sam Green has been named the Heart Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week. Green earned the honor after scoring one goal in each of the two conference contests last week, and setting a new program record in the process.

In a 1-0 win over Central Methodist (Mo.), Green scored the game-winner with less than three minutes remaining in the contest. He followed with one goal scored in an 8-0 win on the road over Clarke (Iowa).

The two goals scored by Green moved him to 110 points in his career at Missouri Valley, and put him on top of the program’s career points list. He passed Nicholas Alexander (107 total points from 2010-13) on the all-time list for the program.

This is the second weekly award for Green this season, having earned the award last week, and the fifth of his career. He currently has eight goals and two assists this season.

The men’s soccer team is 6-1-1 overall, and 3-0 in the Heart. Up next is a home game against Culver-Stockton (Mo.) Saturday at 7:30 p.m., inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium. The men’s game is preceded by the women’s game at 5 p.m., and is part of Family Weekend on the Missouri Valley campus.
