A two-vehicle collision in southern Macon County sent four area residents to the hospital Saturday afternoon, including two children.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that around 1:40 p.m., an SUV driven by 55-year-old Kimberly Gittmeier of Cairo failed to stop as she was crossing U.S. Route 63 westbound at the intersection outside Excello. The SUV struck a southbound vehicle driven by 36-year-old Kristopher Kidd of Moberly. Both drivers, along with an eight-year-old and six-year-old in Kidd’s vehicle, all suffered serious injuries. The four were taken to a Columbia hospital.
